I like to think I was a control freak, but I guess I still am. Back in the old day I was a micromanager, taking responsibility for every aspect of a project even if it wasn’t mine. I would stay awake at night worrying about outcome. I would plan and scheme what else I could […]
Once again I was fortunate enough to fly to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I stayed with a friend who took us fishing. We did a lot of fishing. We didn’t do a lot of catching. It was tropical storm season and the rough waters and windy conditions sent the fish elsewhere. So instead of catching […]
My new mantra is to focus on my experience. In every moment am I experiencing what I desire? If I am focused on a specific outcome or item to acquire, I ask myself what I hope to experience from it. Then I see how I can experience that feeling without the thing or the outcome. The question is what do you want to feel? Choose your feeling: happy, exhilarated, joyous, adventurous, loving, peaceful, or relaxed. Then watch yourself every moment.
Are obstacles keeping you away from achieving your dreams? How do you regain your determination and make the impossible, possible?
Do you have distractions that are sneaking into your business? What weeds are choking your plans? What needs to be removed to make your business bloom?
I hope this overview of business planning will provide you with the framework and incentive to make the plans you need for a successful new year!
I know I would spend hours with the Sears Christmas catalog, scanning every page, imagining what it would be like to have this toy, that doll, or the latest board game. (Collectible horses were my favorite.) Then I would carefully write my list and post it on the refrigerator for all to see – and for Santa to fulfill.
When was the last time we took the same effort to determine and ask for what we want in our life? You know, really looking at all the options out there, reviewing each one, mentally trying each one on for size, and then writing a wish list of how we desire to live. My guess is that many of us do not take the time. But what happened when we were young and responded, ” I don’t know” to Aunt Sally’s question of what we wanted? That year’s gifts were tube socks, pajamas, and a well-meaning but misguided gift.
But then I got to thinking. How many of us are living our lives without out a plan? How many of us wake up in the morning feeling unfulfilled? How many of us feel there should be something more or different that we should be doing, something we should have? We can’t define what it is but we know we don’t have it now. How many of us don’t have a life plan?
